FAQs: Lactose Free
Frequently Asked Questions: Lactose Free
What is Lactose?
Lactose is the main sugar in milk and other dairy products. If you have lactose intolerance, you aren’t able to digest lactose well.
Does yogurt have lactose?
Most yogurts are made from milk and naturally contain lactose. However, yogurt and fermented dairy products are more easily digestible alternatives to milk because they contain on average less lactose, and because the cultures continue to break down lactose in the intestinal tract, allowing some lactose-intolerant individuals to enjoy dairy products with fewer associated symptoms.
What is the difference between Activia and Activia Lactose Free Yogurt?
Activia Lactose Free offers the same great benefits as regular Activia yogurt does. Activia Lactose Free Lowfat Yogurt contains the enzyme known as lactase, which helps break down the lactose so that those who have difficulty digesting lactose can incorporate lactose-free yogurt as a part of their diet. Activia Lactose Free Yogurt is not specifically designed to address the customary symptoms associated with ingesting dairy products by lactose-intolerant individuals. Additionally, Activia Lactose Free Yogurt is not intended to help lactose-intolerant individuals tolerate other lactose-containing products, such as milk. Please consult with your doctor if you have any further questions as to whether or not this yogurt is right for you.
Can I eat Activia if I am Lactose Intolerant?
Yes, you can eat regular Activia if you are lactose intolerant. However, if you are looking for a lactose free option, we have Activia Lactose Free.
